This stereo offers excellent value for the price. It’s fast and responsive, with both the touch screen and volume knob functioning effectively. Installation was a breeze. However, the screen tends to be quite reflective, which can create glare and make it hard to see at times. Unfortunately, mine came without a microphone, so I can’t comment on the call quality yet. The sound quality is impressively good. Apple CarPlay operates smoothly, but I’ve struggled to reconnect it after disconnection without turning off the car. My main concern is that the voice prompts from Apple CarPlay (like navigation directions or text reading) are too quiet. While raising the volume helps, it then results in music coming back at a much louder level. I haven’t been able to find a separate volume control for these features. Overall, it’s definitely worth the investment, and I would recommend it to others.

To start, this unit doesn’t fit properly in my truck with any installation kit. I had to make modifications to my vehicle just to accommodate the screen. The most frustrating aspect is that it forces the GPS to activate every time I connect. The Bluetooth music quality is terrible, skipping worse than an old CD that’s been tossed around. It also lags significantly for the first three minutes after turning it on. On the positive side, the sound quality through the radio is decent, but that’s about it. No matter how inexpensive something is, it’s pointless if it doesn’t work as intended.

This review is specifically for the LSLYA RK-680, a single DIN unit with a 6.9″ screen, volume knob, wireless Android Auto, and multiple USB ports (1x USB A for charging, 1x USB C for charging, and 1x USB A for data and charging).
I opted for this budget-friendly head unit to install in my 26-year-old car, as a branded option would likely cost more than the vehicle itself. While the unit has its share of flaws, most of them can be managed given the price point. Thankfully, aside from an occasional reboot freeze, I haven’t encountered any major issues.
The Pros:
1) The radio functions well, with reception decent enough for the San Francisco Bay Area, though not as good as an OEM unit.
2) Wireless and USB modes for Android Auto both work, although Android Auto has its own quirks, likely due to Google’s software.
3) Sound quality is adequate, comparable to OEM; in an older car like mine, road noise poses the biggest challenge.
4) It supports a backup camera and an additional video input.
5) The touch screen is responsive, though there’s a slight delay with Android Auto that’s manageable.
The Cons:
1) The included instructions were for a completely different model (Double DIN) with various features and ports. Thankfully, the rear connections matched up, but there were zero labels on the head unit itself, just a series of unmarked plugs.
2) The provided backup camera was disappointing. Marketed as having a 170-degree view, it actually only offers a 70-degree horizontal angle (35 degrees on each side), leaving a blind spot of about 4 feet behind the car, and the vertical view is limited to 40 degrees, making it hard to see anything beyond 2 feet behind. It also seems unlikely to be waterproof based on its construction. I recommend replacing it with a better camera.
3) The radio isn’t very user-friendly; it has three FM bands, but only one is functional. Attempting to browse stations always defaults back to band 1, effectively limiting you to 6 presets instead of 18.
4) If you mute the volume and turn off the car, the next time you power it on, the volume defaults to 10 out of 40, which is quite loud for me.
5) Android Auto can lead to crashes, possibly due to losing WiFi or Bluetooth connections. Disabling wireless Android Auto appears to resolve this issue.
6) Some crashes require a full car shutdown and the reset button initiates a factory reset. While these crashes are infrequent, they might be related to my efforts to prevent Android Auto from taking control of my phone every time I drive. Disabling wireless Android Auto in the developer options on your phone is a potential fix.
Despite the extensive list of Cons, none are deal-breakers. It’s unclear whether the crashes stem from Google or the head unit itself. For the price—less than a tank of gas—this modern head unit is quite acceptable and still earns a 5-star rating from me. If it fails within a year, I’ll reconsider my rating.

Ensure that the FM radio antenna is plugged in; otherwise, the Bluetooth connection tends to cut in and out significantly. That was my experience, and I’m not sure why.
